The North Melbourne Kangaroos unofficially known as the ‘Shinboners’ are the fourth oldest club in the AFL. The Kangaroos are based at the Arden street oval but play all of their home games at Doclands Stadium. The Kangaroos won premierships in 1996 and 1999 under Coach Dennis Pagan and what many consider as the best player to have played the game, Wayne Carey. The club's motto is victoria amat curam, Latin for "Victory Demands Dedication". Over the years the North Melbourne players have consistently held up the long standing tradition of the ‘Shinboner sprit’ of never giving up and always working hard enough to find a way to win.
